Game

Jan. 31st, 2006 | 06:35 pm

To game or not to game, that is the question.

So I have been pondering running some sort of Rpg for the last little while. I finally decided that I wanted to run a "A Game of Thrones d20"campaign. So I'm going to give out some bare bones information here.

The Setting:
Westeros is the primary setting for AGOT. The game is based on George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Westeros is more or less a feudal kingdom. The power in the realm is split between the Royal House (Targaryen) and eight great noble houses (Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Greyjoy, Arryn, Martel, Tully and Tyrell). Sworn to the great houses are a multitude of smaller noble houses etc. The social order is much like it was during the middle ages, with many of the same beleifs about social rolls etc.

The world itself is somewhat unique. There are seasons, but unlike in the traditional sense, these last years. Winter in Westeros, especially a long harsh winter, can be disaterous beyond all imagination. Magic is very rare and is generally feared. Magical healing is an unknown. As such any sort of serious combat should be carefully considered. Dead is dead... most of the time.Mystical creatures and monsters have generally vanished from the world, or are beleived to have done so (The last of house Targaryen's dragons are now long dead). On the surface it is a world not unlike the middle ages.

The Idea:
I already have the time period for the campaign picked out as well as the meta plot. My idea so far is that the PCs would be members of a rather minor noble house. This could include members of the noble house itself, as well as sworn knights, guards, etc. This would allow for both the more traditional form of adventures, as well as more of the politics and intrigue which are a large part of Martin's world.

The questions:
1) Who's interested
2)Do we want to do this the old way, or do we want to try one of the online formats, or a mix of both?

World of Warcraft stuff

Jan. 12th, 2006 | 01:36 pm

So there is a chance that some of the main people will be leaving the guild. If this happens I'm not sure I want to stay. I'm considering starting a guild of my own. Something small for people I know. Basically just a place to hang out and bs. Wondering what people think and if they have name ideas.

So far this is just an idea so please don't mention it in guild chat. Thanks

On another note, Cunoblin sent me a link to http://fantasygrounds.com/ this might give us a way of all gaming together. Might be an idea.

"The thesis goes ever on and on, down from the computer from which it spawned..."

It's really getting frustrating. Especially when you discover in miod chapter that you have no idea what to do next:D. Still At least the page count keeps getting longer, that has to count for something I guess. I'm kinda in a rut. I work tue, fri, sat every week, work on my thesis mon, wed, thu and have Sunday off. I'm kinda glad I have WoW to blow off steam, else I might have to kill someone.

It's official. Oleg is now an adult memeber of the WoW community... he ran his first noob through DM. They just grow up so fast... one day you're running them through instances, the next day they're running others through them. /sniff
